Last week, Brenna came home and told us someone called her stupid. It was so hard to be strong when I looked at her sad face. Brenna and Brody had a hard time understanding why someone would call Brenna that. I know not all kids are not nice and it's just the beginning, but as a mom it is very hard to hear!
Brody has also been complaining about no one wanting to play with him. It breaks my heart to hear that from a 4 year old. On the funny side, Brenna chirped in with, "maybe when we are in 2nd grade kids will want to play with us. " Leave it to Brenna to throw in a random comment. I don't know if kids are less likely to play with them because they are always playing with each other or what the deal is. I'm hoping they make friends soon! Overall they still seem to like school so I'm not too worried yet.
The past couple of weeks have been uneventful. We continue to work on remodeling the entry way and I look forward to the mess being gone.
Last weekend we carved pumpkins. Brenna and Brody insisted on sitting inside the big pumpkin so I could take pictures. They were really good at scooping out the "guts." I am not sure if we are going to make it to the pumpkin patch this year. We have been going to Pleasant Valley tree farms since Brenna and Brody were 6 months old. Maybe the weather will be decent on Halloween and we can still make it there.
This past Saturday we went to a chili and applie pie cook-off at Karen and Pat Batz's house. Karen is a co-worker at Sherman. There was a lot of chili and apple pie to taste as well as other beverages. All very good. Unfortunately, my chili didn't win an award. Well, at least Brody liked it and thought it should win. It was a good time, but Brenna was ready to go home by 7:00.
So far we have all avoided the bugs that are going around.
I have to end with a story.
Brody: "Mom, when were you pregnant with Brenna, me and Daddy?"
Me: I wasn't pregnant with Daddy.
Brody: Then who was?
Me: Daddy was in Nana's belly.
Brody: Oh
All for now!
