Brenna and Brody worked on perfecting their bike riding skills all week at Carrie's. By mid week, both could get started on their own and turn corners without a problem. I had to hold my breath a few times watching them ride down a hill by Grandma Merri's apartment. I was also wondering why I ever wanted them to ride bike without training wheels?
Brenna showing off her new skills at home.
Brenna got her first bad scrape last week. She was playing tag with John, a friend who lives by Carrie, and she fell on the concrete. When I first saw the scrape, I assumed it was from a bike accident.
Saturday, we spent the day with Grandma De-De, Aunt Jessie and Abbi and went to thrift sales. We had fun but ended up being gone most of the day. Sunday, Jaxon came over to play for awhile and Brenna and Brody played with Avery too. We were going to have the entire James family over for lunch but Sarah got the flu. I hope it's not the swine flu, or the swan flu, as one of my students who I work with calls it. Papa and Nana came over for dinner on Sunday.
Putting together puzzles with Dad. They have a song and little dance they do when they finish a puzzle.
Brenna and Brody do not let Avery too far out of their sight when she is around. Is she adorable or what? Steve and I told Avery that her mom and dad want her to start crawling as soon as possible. I wonder if she'll listen?
Brenna standing up and swinging. Sitting down on the swing is not exciting enough. Sunday, Brenna and Brody had fun playing catch using their baseball gloves. Brody was so sweet about getting excited for Brenna when she caught the ball.
Brenna and I painted our toenails while Brody took a nap. Brenna took a few of the pictures. I think she really enjoys the girl time. I only included this lovely picture of me because Brenna took it!
Cute little piggies.
Cute little piggies.
We ended our Sunday by going for a walk. Brenna and Brody were sick of me taking pictures at this point so they look less excited than they really were. We walked down our road about a mile and watched the cows and calves. Pushing the Doodlebug up the hills is quite a challenge now that B and B are so big.
Tonight, I told Brenna and Brody that we should start a countdown to summer vacation when I can be with them everyday. They seemed excited about that but I then mentioned they would probably miss Carrie. Brody said, "Carrie said that I can call her anytime I want to." He then asked if her number was long distance. Very sweet. :)
And last onto the title of my blog. Brenna and Brody have been watching the progress of the slide being built at Action City. We were talking about the slide trying to decide if it was finished. Anyway, Brody informed me that I probably couldn't go on the slide because my butt is too big and the slide might break. Another ego booster from my son. It actually made me laugh because he said it so nicely like he was really concerned about that slide breaking :) Maybe he is trying to help keep me motivated with my exercise plan.
