Conferences and Soccer

Brenna and Brody had their first parent teacher conference last week for kindergarten.  Both of their conferences went well.  It's always nice to hear positive comments from other people. They must save their best behavior for school. :)

Saturday, Brody had his last soccer practice. I had planned to take more pictures of Brody playing soccer, but did not want to stand out in the rain, so I took pictures of Brenna instead.

The look says it all

Trying to catch rain drops with her tongue!

I love the outfit she picked out today!

Brenna's turn with the camera

Brody really enjoyed playing soccer! I guess I shouldn't be surprised..it involves a ball!

Friday Fun

Last Thursday, Aunt Lisa came to visit and spend the night.  She  made Brenna and Brody pancakes Friday morning. Brenna and Brody love spending time with their Aunt Lisa.

Friday, I had the day off from work, so I told Brenna and Brody it would be an "all about them day."  It seemed like it had been awhile since we have had just a fun day.  Brenna and Brody finally decided they wanted to go to the Sports Center. Carrie used to take them there when she babysat, and they always had fun. Carrie and her daycare kids met us at the sports center. Auntie Lisa joined us for awhile too.
Brenna and Brody loved seeing Carrie, Mya, and Claire (who we met for the first time).

Mya and Brenna were never far apart!

Whenever Brenna sat down, Mya sat down
Brody played hockey and volleyball with Carrie

Snack time! Brenna and Brody helped Mya finish her snack.
Carrie with her daycare kids--Mya (almost 2), Claire (almost 1)
and you know the other two!
Friday night, Steve thought we should have a bonfire, so we invited the Harts and the James over for smores. It's so relaxing sitting by a fire, and it was a great night for it!  Both kids fell asleep by the fire.

                                                               Avery watching the fire
Jaxon ate his share of marshmallows
                                                                    The three amigos

And to end with two short "stories"...the only ones I can remember from the past few weeks. :)

Brenna (as she is combing my hair): "Mom, sorry if it hurts, but that's just the way it's going to have to be."

And a sign I might have used the words high maintenance too much around my children...
Brody was taking a long time getting out of the van at the gas station. Brenna looked at him and said, "Are you high maintenance or what?"

All for now!

Buddy Walk 2010

The last weekend of September, Abbi, Brenna, Brody and I participated in the Buddy Walk, which is a 1 mile walk through Irvine Park. It's purpose is to raise awareness of Down Syndrome, and  the walk benefits an organization for Down Syndrome.  It is always a fun, family-friendly event for a great cause!
Jaxon, Avery, and Sarah walked with a group from Sarah's school.
                                                         Grace, Jaxon's Cousin, also walked.

We had to take some time to pose on the rocks.

Things that Make My Day

With two kids in kindergarten, a lot of papers come home on a daily basis.  Every once in awhile, Brenna or Brody bring something home that really makes my day.  Here are a few of Brody's:

The picture below is of Brody and his Papa. According to Brody, Papa got struck by lightening, which is why Papa's hair is so crazy.

Brody handed this to me one afternoon when I picked him up from daycare.
