Milwaukee

We made it to Milwaukee!  For a couple of days prior to leaving I was a little worried we wouldn't make it.  Brenna got the flu Saturday night and so I figured by Wednesday it would be someone else's turn. Thankfully we all stayed healthy.  Brenna was not 100% but she was healthy enough to go. Whatever bug is going around is a nasty one.  We stayed at a hotel with a little waterpark and the kids had a blast playing.

If only I could give Brody open eyes, this would be an even cuter picture. Brenna and Brody had smiles the entire time.  I love watching them have fun.
I'm not sure what Brody is doing with his head but he did the same thing for a few other pictures.

Thursday afternoon we headed to Miller Park for a Brewers/Dodgers game. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time! Too bad the
Brewers lost.
Waiting for autographs...

I took these pictures for Brody.  They are of two of his favorite players, Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder. I almost made the mistake of buying Steve a Milwaukee Brewers' shirt that had Hoffman on the back. Brody informed me that, "Hoffman sucks." I did tell him he should use the word "stinks" instead.
We knew Matt and Carrie were going to be at the game but didn't know if we would find them.  Shortly after sitting down, we spotted them just across the field from our seats. Two people who were sitting by Matt and Carrie left the game so Brody, Brenna, and I went to say hi after Matt called to tell us about the people leaving.  Brody and Brenna were going to sit with them for awhile but it never happened because we were booted out by the usher! Oops..well at least we got to say hi and chat for a few minutes.  It was also fun to see the action from the front row!
We headed to the Family Fun Zone for a little break from watching the game.
Friday morning we packed up and headed to the Milwaukee Zoo! Again, another beautiful day to be outside.
Camel ride
Train ride
Brenna can be so photogenetic when she wants to be!

The perfect way to end a great day at the zoo...ice cream!
It was great getting away for a couple of days as a family!  Tomorrow I am back to work so I will have an excuse as to why I fall behind on the blog. :) Have a great week!

Picnic and Birthday Party

We had our family picnic the first Saturday in August at our house.  Only a few of us could make it, but it still was a good day. Here are some pictures from a couple of things we did in August. I haven't been taking too many pictures lately.
We made time to play some baseball
Sprinkler time
Time for a break

Linda and Eldie got a present for their 50th wedding anniversary.  There is a penny from each year Linda and Eldie have been married, and a picture of them on their wedding day at the top.
Jaxon celebrated his 5th birthday on August 8th. Brenna and Brody enjoyed the slip-n-slide, the bouncy house, and hitting the pinata.
All for now!

Wear Pink

August is the month when I finally let myself officially think about work. I think this is the first summer that I have not went into work!  I attended some meetings that I had volunteered to do, but never once went into my building. I'm thinking this might make the transistion back to work a little more difficult!  It's always exciting starting a new school year but it's also a big change in our routine. August also means that Brenna and Brody will be kindergartners soon. The school supplies are bought and we know who their teachers will be, but I'm not sure I've really wrapped my head around the fact that my babies are kindergartners! Wow!  I am so glad that I have tried to treasure all of the little moments with my kiddos as they really do grow up too fast.

Last week when Brody and Brenna woke up and were snuggling with me, I told them who their teachers would be. It will be a big change for them this year as they will be in seperate classes.  Brody looks at Brenna and says, "Brenna, make sure you wear bright pink so I can find you."  How sweet is that? He is the protective brother. I had tears and then started to question our choice of seperating them.  Choosing to seperate them was not the easiest choice, but I hope it is the best choice.

Swimming Lessons Completed

Brenna and Brody officially completed Level 1 swimming lessons the last week of July. They both had a great time and passed their first class. I think everyone who participates and tries passes. These pictures are from the last session, which was just three different stations.
Swimming through the hoops
Brody getting dropped off the board.  Neither one of them was ready to jump solo!

Brenna getting dropped from the board.
Getting a ride from 10 ft to three feet with the lifeguard
Trying to be the first one to blow the ball across the water
Brenna won!
I am hoping they enjoy lessons just as much next summer.

Someday

We cleaned out Brenna and Brody's bedroom closet, which is where my wedding dress hangs. Of course Brenna and Brody wanted to try it on.  I even had to try it on and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it fits!
Someday Brenna might wear a white dress like this one, and someday Brody will not be happy that I have a picture of him in a wedding dress! He asked and I couldn't say no. Let them be little, right!?
