Fun with Friends

Last week we went to Irvine Park so Brenna and Brody could have a playdate with John.  Sarah, Avery, and Jaxon rode with us and we met Brenda, John and Carrie at the park.

Here Brody is being his goofy self.  He is his father's son.  Yes, he is crossing his eyes intentionally.

They had fun jumping off the rocks.

On Sunday the kids and I went to Jorja's 2nd birthday party.  Steve was working so he couldn't  come along. Jorja  is the little girl in the blue suit.  She is a busy, independent two-year old! I get tired just watching her.  I don't know if I could have handled twins if Brenna and Brody would have been as busy as she is. :)

It was a fun party! Brenna and Brody fell asleep shortly after getting home and I don't think they woke up once during the night!

We have also been spending A LOT of time at the pool this past week.  Brenna and Brody started swimming lessons on Monday so we have been staying at the pool once the lessons are done.  Surprisingly, both said they LOVE swimming lessons.  I had to document this because I don't think they have ever been excited about the same thing, and Brenna is usually very cautious about admitting something was fun. That's just not her style these days. They are both putting their head under water and are becoming more comfortable in the water.  Today I had fun just watching them in the water.  I agreed to let them stay at the pool if I could stay out of the water.

And to end with a car conversation:
Brody to Brenna when they were sharing a pop: Why do you have to always chew on the straw Brenna?
Brenna: Well, what if you had two sisters who chewed on the straw Brody?
Brody: Well then I would go to the store and get a new straw.
Brenna: Well what if mom didn't have a car to take you the store.
Brody: Well then I would buy a new car
Brenna: Well what if mom didn't have money to buy a new car?
Brenna never did answer the original question!
They are both into the "what if" scenarios right now and somtimes they go on and on and on.....

Have a great weekend!

Growing up

This is how Brenna came out from the bathroom after taking a shower. She had managed to wrap her towel around her head all by herself.  I think it looks like a whole lotta towel with just a little face. The fact that she likes to take a shower now and wraps her head with a towel makes her seem way to grown up.

Chaos!

For one day Chaos was a place we visited rather than the state of our lives! Carrie had given Brenna and Brody a gift card to Chaos Waterpark last year. Last Tuesday we woke up and it looked like it was going to be a rainy day so we decided to head to Chaos. It's $10 admission all summer so we might have to go back one more time.
We had a blast!  We managed to spend the entire day there! Carrie had taken Brenna and Brody at the end of the school year so I think that made them feel more comfortable this time.
Abbi offered Brenna a Hannah Montana shirt if she would try the one big slide. After much hemming and hawing, Brenna finally decided to give it a try. I walked up with her and she got started when the lifeguard gave her the okay.  Well the initial taking off scared her and so she managed to stop  herself on the slide. She was too far down the slide for anyone to reach so I kept yelling "go, go, go" as she kept yelling, "No, I'm too scared!"  Thankfully it is so loud at Chaos that hardly anyone noticed the little girl stuck on the slide. Eventually the lifeguard had to get on the slide and take her down to the bottom. I know Brenna would have loved the slide had she stuck with it but her fear got the best of her. Once again, she is my child! Brody refused to even try the big slide.  Both have said next time they will go on it.  It was a great day with my kids and niece.  I was happy to spend the next day OUT of water though!

Tee Time!

We finally got to go golfing as a family! We have tried a couple of times but the weather did not cooperate.  Brenna and Brody have been golfing more than me this year. This spring when Papa and Nana babysat, Papa took them quite a few times. Part of their birthday presents was a set of clubs cut down to kids size. Steve was looking for a driver that he had given his dad when he won a new set of clubs.  Today he found it...it's now kid sized.  At one hole, Brody and I hit the ball almost the same distance.  Good for him..not so good for me. :)  We had fun.

Have a great week!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

On Thursday, July 8th, we went to an Express game.  Sarah's mom gets free tickets for one game and that is usually the only one we make it to all summer. It was a great night to watch baseball.

Brody with his best bud, cousin Tyler
Avery and Jeremy--Avery was too busy to watch the game.

We were laughing at Brody's expressions during the game.
He was so serious and used a lot of gestures.

I think Brenna looks more like Jessie's child than mine!! She's stubborn like her Aunt Jessie too. :)

Swimming, Hanging, and the 4th of July

Brenna and  Brody are much more comfortable in the water this year compared to previous years.  Brody figured out how to doggie paddle and Brenna will put her head into the water up to her eyebrows.
We stopped at a little park in Osseo to play.  Brenna and Brody were in the mood to pose for pictures so I took advantage of it.
My upside down monkey actually smiling for a picture!
Brody was excited to be able to flip around the bar without help.
The James' family came over for fireworks at our house on July 3rd.  The kids had a blast.
The kids loving running down the big hills in our yard.  Tank, the dog, does too.
Little Avery had to follow the big kids and run down the hill too! She is so independent and funny!
Jaxon

Unfortunately, our 4th of July did not end with fireworks.  We went to Pleasantville planning to watch them , but the baseball games were running late, which meant the fireworks would be running late. Steve and I didn't want to keep the kiddos up that late so we drove home. Brenna and Brody were disappointed, but fell asleep two seconds after leaving Pleasantville.  Overall we had a nice weekend with lots of family time!
