My first 5K and Nana's Birthday!

This past Saturday was the Longfellow Puddle Jump in Eau Claire. I decided a few months ago that I would try running in the race to help me stay motivated with my running.  I finished the 3.1 miles in 32 minutes and 42 seconds.  A lot of the Sherman staff participated and it was a great day for a run. Steve tried getting my picture when I crossed the finish line, but the camera didn't work.   Brody was willing to pose with me after the race.
After the race my mom, the kids, and I headed to Rice Lake to go bowling with Aunt Lisa and Brad.  It was an event for their work.  We had a good time, but didn't make it home until after 7:00.  The kids and I were tired.

Sunday morning, Brenna woke up with a fever.  She refused to eat or drink anything.  Given the fact that I had strep two weeks ago, I didn't hestitate to take her in.  She did not want to go in because she didn't want her throat swabbed and she did not want to take "nasty" medicine again.  I took her to Express Care and we were on our way to Target to get antibiotics less than 15 minute later.  I really like how convenient the Express Cares places are.  It's a quick in and out and the NP we had also happened to be great with Brenna!  Hopefully we will not be visiting one soon.

While Brenna and I were in Eau Claire, Steve and Brody went into town to celebrate Nana's (Darlene's) birthday with her and Papa.  Nana's birthday was actually Saturday but we were not home to celebrate with her.  Little did we know Brenna would be too sick to celebrate on Sunday.  Darlene is one of the kindest,  most giving people I know.  She is always thinking of others and takes great care of Brenna and Brody when Steve and I are at work.
 Happy Birthday Nana!

And to end with a couple quick stories:

A question that would only be asked in my family:
Brody was on the phone with Great Grandma De-De while she was in the cities. They are chit chatting back and forth.  Out of the blue I hear Brody ask, "De-De, do you have your teeth in today?"

Another car conversation:
Brenna: Brody quit picking your nose. That's disgusting.
Brody: You do it too.
Brenna: Yeah, but not right now.
Love the come backs.

All for now!

Major Catching Up

Once again, I have gotten behind on the blog.  In my defense, I did have strep throat two weeks ago which actually forced me to rest.  I even had to stay home one day from work.  That's the one and only great thing about strep throat.  If you get it during the week, you have to stay home for 24 hours after starting the antiobiotic. Nana and Papa offered to keep the kids so I could rest.  I tried so hard all day to sleep but I just couldn't.  I did lie around and watch T.V. though, which felt very strange to do during daylight hours.
We had a wonderful Easter.  Steve's sister, Sheri, niece, Sara, and nephew, Jesse came up from Illinois with their two dogs, Sophie and Minnie.
Foster always has an Easter egg hunt so we went to it of course. We saw Jaxon and Jeremy there. Cousin Abbi, Tyler, Aunt Jessie and Uncle Jimmy were there too.

The kids got to get 11 eggs.  They then get a bag of prizes at the end.
The Saturday before Easter was Steve's birthday so we also celebrated that with a small get together at our house.
Happy Birthday to Steve!
Brody laying with Sophie.  He loves her.
Brenna found her basket under the end table.  Brody found his in the dryer.  He had written a letter to the Easter Bunny requesting that the basket be put in the dryer again.

The Easter Bunny came to our house when we were at church and out to eat and hid eggs all over the yard. Brenna and Brody had a blast finding the eggs.  I think it took them five minutes to find over 70 eggs.

Papa and Brody
Later in the afternoon on Easter the kids and I went into town to see Aunt Jessie and family.

Auntie Sheri with the kids.  You guessed it. Brenna didn't want her picture taken.
Sara was the flower girl in our wedding.  Tyler was the ring bearer.  They have changed quite a bit in the past 6.5 years! They were not very happy about having to get their picture taken together.
Papa's friendly squirrel that he named Friskey.  It takes bread right out of his hand.

Spring Break

Brody's new haircut.  He doesn't spike it all of the time.
Saturday afternoon was Brenna and Brody's school night at Hoffy's Skate America.  The school earned money for each person who attended from 4:30-7:30.  Brody and Brenna brought their scooters from home and had a great time riding them.  The also tried roller skating a few times.

Brenna and Jorja
Monday was my first day of vacation! I dropped the kids off at school and then had three hours to myself.  I had some guilt free exercise time and then went home to get ready before picking them up.  We took advantage of the nice weather and stopped at Robbin's Elementary to play after doing a little shopping at Target.
Brenna was anti picture again.  I love how she is peeking to see if I still have the camera aimed at her.
Tess spent the day with us.  She chewed up her leash and jumped out of the van through the window when we were at the playground.  The kids said we need to leave her home next time.

Tuesday after I picked up Brenna and Brody we went to the Children's Musuem in Eau Claire. John, their friend from Eau Claire, came with us.  After the musuem, we stopped and chatted with Carrie.

Wednesday, I sent the kids to daycare so I could get some cleaning done.  I have never sent my kids to daycare when I am off from work, but I really wanted to do some de-cluttering, which is hard to do when two kids try to keep everything I want to throw away.  I got a lot done and the kiddos had a good day.  After daycare, we went to the high school to register Brenna and Brody for T-ball.  It's hard to believe they are old enough to play.  Steve will be helping out with coaching, if you can really call it coaching for 4 and 5 year olds!

Thursday we packed a lunch and went to the park.  We were outside all day and enjoyed the great weather!

We sat down at a picnic table to take a break.  Brenna wanted to pretend to be a teacher and read to us.  Brody kept plugging his ears and saying that he wasn't listening.  When Brenna got done reading she looked at me and said, "I am so embarrased about how rude Brody was acting."  Too funny!

It has been great having a week with my kids!
Happy Easter!
