A parade, a party, and a weekend trip

I thought I would be better about keeping the blog updated once I went back to work. Not so much. Here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks.

We enjoyed Fall Fest in Cleghorn. This our third year attending it. There is a nice parade and activities for the kids.

After we left Cleghorn, we headed to Olivia's 5th birthday party. Olivia is also in 4K, but attends the afternoon class. Brenna and Brody enjoyed the horse ride around the yard.

Last weekend, we made a trip to Green Bay to see Steve's Aunts and Uncles from his dad's side of the family. It was really nice to get away for a weekend! The kids slept well and enjoyed the pool at the hotel. We also went to the zoo. We broke down and borrowed my sister's DVD player for the trip. I think it helped a little as the kids were really good for the ride. On Friday before leaving, we made a quick visit to Dr. Gilmartin as Brenna was covered from head to toe with an itchy rash. He diagnosed it as a viral hives and recommended giving her Zyrtec. By Sunday, the hives were almost gone. We made it this week without a reoccurence so hopefully the hives are gone for awhile now.
Brenna and her Hannah Montana shades she picked out. Can you guess who she is going to be for Halloween?

In addition to being itchy, Brenna got a blister so she hitched a shoulder ride with Daddy.

Great Aunt Maxine lives close to a pond where we walked to feed the ducks.
Brody and Brenna with their Great Aunt and Uncles (Ralph, Earl, Vern, Maxine) and Papa.
The Seefeldts
Brody enjoying his favorite past time. Great Uncle Ralph gave him some pointers on kicking.
Enjoying time in the pool.
Brenna and Brody continue to adjust to a new daycare and school. They love school and seem to like their new daycare. Brenna had less tears for the bus this week too.
Tonight Brenna and Brody were requesting what songs they wanted me to sing for bed time by saying only the first sound of the song. Brody kept saying, "w" "w" "w." I knew he was meaning to say "r" "r" for Rock a Bye Baby so I thought I should see if I could help him to make a good r. I told him what to do with his tongue and he made a perfect r. Brenna wanted to try it too but wasn't having as good of luck. I told her to try putting her tongue way in the back of her mouth. She looks at me with a puzzled look and says, "so I gag myself?" I will think of that every time I am working on /r /with a student!

Brody has been asking so many questions lately some of which include:
Mom, when will I have big boobs....When I get bigger and marry Brenna?
Me: Boys do not usually get large breasts and you won't marry your sister (at least I hope not!).
Brody: Who will I marry then?

All for now!

Tears

Tears seems to be the theme of the last couple of weeks. I had lots of tears as I said good-bye in the morning to Brenna and Brody on their first day of school. Steve had the luxury of taking them on their first day. I think I only cried half way to work. Then there were tears from Brenna this past Tuesday when she had to ride the big bus to school. I had to leave for work before the bus came, but when Steve called to tell me Brenna cried when she got on the bus, more tears from me. It's probably a good thing that I was not there to put her on the bus because she holds it a little more together for Steve. It might help that he usually doesn't start to cry too. :) By day three on the bus, things were getting better so there is hope!

This was on orientation evening.

This was the first day of school. Steve brought them that day. No tears from either one!
So proud of my 4Kers!! Steve was instructed to take a picture and he did exactly as he was told. He took ONE picture! :)
At the end of the driveway waiting for the bus.
Making the long trek down the driveway.
I am so thankful they have each other because I really do not think I could send just one little 4-year old on that big bus. They both commented that the bus driver drives too fast. :)
Anyway, 4K is a hit! Both Brenna and Brody had great first days and their second week went well also! They are also adjusting to a new daycare and seem to enjoy it. Our Fridays are extra special because B and B get to spend the day at Carrie's! It's a treat for me to have them back in the van for the ride to Eau Claire too. They got to meet the baby who Carrie is taking care of this past Friday.
We went to Cooper's dog school graduation. Our naughty boy got 2nd place! Now if only he could listen that well at home!

Steve and his friend, Tim, also finally sold the cabin in Winter but in turn became the proud owners of a huge camper that sits in the field by our house until it sells. We decided to have a "camping like" weekend in our yard over Labor Day. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows and sleeping in the camper. Abbi stayed one night and Aunt Jessie, Uncle Jimmy, Nana, and Papa joined us one night for s'mores. Brody had intentions of sleeping in the camper but always ended up wanting to head to the house to sleep...he loves his own house.

Have a great week!
